Director of Policy

Since the early 1990’s, Tammy Cota has successfully monitored and/or lobbied high-profile state issues around the country including: restrictions or mandates impacting Internet business models; development or testing of new technologies; taxes; privacy; advertising; employment; child safety; environment; utility; data security, retention, access and disposal; banking and finance issues including mandates of money or wire processors; ecommerce; intellectual property; copyright; motor vehicle licenses; franchising; state industry registration and licensing requirements; law enforcement and government court orders or subpoenas; escheats; insurance and health care.

Tammy currently serves as executive director of the Internet Coalition, a trade association representing internet and e-commerce companies focusing on state public policy to protect and foster the internet economy.

Tammy provides members with intelligence and guidance about the thousands of legislative proposals introduced each legislative session. She facilitates both weekly strategy calls and written reports. She creates policy positions, talking points, editorials, press releases and testimony. Tammy also advises members of state legislative processes, advocacy timing and the key lawmakers to contact.

Tammy has worked with Leonine Public Affairs since 1991 and has years of lobbying experience and industry trade association management. She previously worked for the Vermont Department of Education and graduated summa cum laude from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, where she studied computer networking and PC support.
